Omaha Spring

Hey, y'all!

The weather's turning cooler -- again --  but we're hanging in there.  We're looking forward to working with the members this week and that's gonna be our primary focus.

The experiences that I've had in this area have really stretched my understanding of and appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  It's infinite and eternal and applying it in real time, as many General Authorities have mentioned, opens up opportunities we didn't think were possible.  It's an amazing thing to witness.

More next week!  Love y'all!

Someone Told Me It's All Happening At The Zoo...

Hey, y'all!

Unfortunately, I don't have photos, but we went to the zoo today and it was a lot of fun!  The Omaha Zoo is pretty sweet and had some great exhibits.

A resident of the Omaha Zoo, who shares Elder McMurray's opinion of the weather...

Omaha weather is crazy.  It was like summer today and it's gonna be down in the 50s for the rest of the week, so they say.

Things are going well. We've got some cool investigators and some good less-active work has been happening.

We had a good week! Our Stake Conference was held this weekend, and last night, we had a great team-up with a ward member, visiting a less-active member.  At first, the less-active sister was reluctant to allow us inside, but after a few minutes, she relented.  She expressed concerns about her children, and about her own uncertainties as a newly divorced mother.

We obviously would not have had that visit without a member accompanying us, but the member's presence was much more than obeying mission rules.  The member was instrumental in helping the less-active sister feel like she could trust us, and we were able to deliver the message she needed to hear.  The Spirit was there.

I thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers on our behalf.  I wish y'all a wonderful week!

Love,

Happy To Be Staying Put

Springtime in Nebraska
Hey, all!

Transfers have come and gone, and I'm staying with Elder Stoker in Eagle Run!

We're looking forward to continuing our efforts to "hasten the work" in this part of the vineyard, and we're grateful for the successes we're enjoying.  With the Lord's foundational help, I've participated in two convert baptisms in this area, a place that was long considered a "non-productive" and aimless area.  We are working to help a member in need find housing.  Judy, one of our recent converts, is an amazing lady!  And we have plenty of people to teach: one of them is coming to Church regularly!

So many of the things we worry about are just distractions that really don't matter.  As I focus on "the things that matter most," I feel like I'm becoming a new person.  I've come to realize that becoming new in Christ isn't about making us into something completely different: He takes all of our good qualities that already exist and expands them.
