The Power of Commitment

We're grateful for your continued thoughts and prayers and efforts to live the Gospel to the fullest.

I want to give you a segment from the email that I submitted to our Mission President this morning:

Our past lesson with her has helped solidify my testimony of God's Hand in district commitments and member missionary work. One of the commitments we made a couple of district meetings ago was to center our teaching on the Temple when we teach families. As we finished up a lesson with a member family on the importance of the Temple, one of their tenants walked into the room, her curiosity piqued by the uniquely divine purpose of what we had just taught. After a brief and basic discussion on the Temple, this tenant was earnest to learn more. We'll be teaching her again this week. David O. McKay's inspired words have touched our hearts.

I testify of the Holy Ghost's Divine Role and Power in unifying us as members of the Restored Gospel to better, more effectively, and more comfortably share that with others.  Personal desire leads to refinement which leads to liberation which leads to passion.  That passion allowed Christ to fulfill the Atonement and allows us to be genuine in our efforts to share the Gospel with others.  I love you all and I'm grateful for you as Brethren in the Gospel.

Thanks, y'all!

Love,

Elder McMurray

Thanksgiving

Ed Zorinsky Lake
We had a great Thanksgiving here in Omaha!  Three families, including the bishop and his family, had us over on Thanksgiving day, so we were very well cared-for.

Even better, our investigator got past her health issues, and came to Church!  And better than that, she brought a friend with her, and the friend wants to start studying with us!

We feel the blessings of the Spirit, and the work here is going very well.  Many less-active members are coming to Church regularly, and we're participating in the ward choir, and we enjoy a lot of support from the ward.

Thank you for your emails and your prayers!

Love,

Elder McMurray

The Week Before Thanksgiving (a belated post)

Last week's entry was delayed by a family trip for Thanksgiving.  While Elder McMurray was working hard in Omaha, his family was in upstate New York, visiting relatives, and touring the Kirtland Temple, and going sledding:

Hey, y'all!

This past week, we witnessed the opposition to our investigator coming to Church.  Her physical ailments have been giving her a lot of problems and we're gonna be fasting for her.  Sorry, no pics this week, but they're coming next week, I promise!  We're looking forward to some great Thanksgiving activities with Bishop and a few other families in the ward.  And Elder Royal's 19th birthday is on Wednesday; he's growing up!

I love y'all and I send my thoughts and prayers in return and I appreciate yours in our behalf.

Love,

Elder McMurray

P.S. Do you have any family names that need temple work done, just in preparation for upcoming temple trips? Send them my way!

Halfway Point

November 13th marked the halfway point of Elder McMurray's mission.  To date, he has served in the MTC, in Glendale, Iowa, and Eagle Run, Nebraska. After a year, he remains unfailingly upbeat and consistently succinct.  Pics, as always, are "on the way."

Hey, y'all!

This past week has been pretty good.  Several people have come back to Church and are active again.  They're giving us referrals so that's awesome.  Our investigator might need to go in for knee replacement surgery before her baptism, but she's still determined to get baptized so we're happy about that despite this obstacle.

The weather has been cold and snowy this past week and both my companion and I are excited and happy about that.  Pics are on the way!

I hope that everyone is doing well down in Houston and is staying warm.  I wish y'all a wonderful week!

Love,
Elder McMurray
